Hello Bruce, it's not my circuit, but I would say that indeed an adaption of the transformer ratio is a solution for you. I would go for a bit more than 28v because you can regulate the output down. Would I simply need to change the transformer to a 28V output to use your circuit?
The compressor is under 60watts of power, so much less than this design.
