Why use 0 Ohm Resistor

Most of then are for EMI, impedance matching and function debug!

hi all;

0 ohm resistors is also sometimes used as fuse , it depends on size of the resistor :1/8 W , 1/4W or ...

but ususally it is used where the fuse shouldn't burn easially

On the old 8700 Motorola mobile phone there are two resistors on a ground plane, see picture; probably used during layout to connect different grounds on the schematic diagram.

Hello,

If you have a system with analogue and digital GND which have different names (AGND/DGND) in the schematic you can use 0 ohm resistors for connection analogue and digital GND.

Bye,

i think a better way in such cirsustance is to use a inductor rather than a 0 resistor.

In fact, 0 resistor is used as a jumper in most designs.

hi :
In high speed design, o resistor can minish 'stub' effect when it beening used as a switch.
