HITECH is better. it produces better optimized code.

Many thanks for all the info

I think IAR is better.

I have tested both compilers (IAR and Hi-Tech) and my experience say me that Hi-Tech generate ca. 10% more compact code.

My vote is for Hitech. Compact code and good
support.

Although Hitech is not bad but I prefer CCS PIC C compiler

I have used both IAR & hi-tech for 12 ,16, & 18 series. I certaily prefer
hi-tech over IAR

Dear Chewbecca

Why do you prefer hitech? It is only code optimalization or something other?
I need comfortable package for beginner in PIC and C

comford

hi,

if you want comfordablety you can prefer pic-basic. is not correct?

and when you chose comfordablety you lost many adventages of c programing language like portablety, performance.

and don't forget bugs.

make your decision wheter you want to understand the philosophy or you only want to play.

IAR is -THE KING- pro toll for pro's

bye 8)

Iar and hi-tech are good tools but hi-tech generate shorter code.

I give my vote to hitech. I use 7.86pl4 and I never have problems with them.

Hitech picc in combination with new MPLab 6.x have debager too!

HITECH

I definitely prefer HITECH C

Hitech

I prefer hitech c compiler is better optimized and compact code

I prefer CCS PIC C compiler. It have built in libraries that work with all chips for RS232 serial I/O, I2C, discrete I/O, precision delays etc. It also produces very tight code and is very easy to use with new project wizard.
Here is a Compiler comparison: www.ccsinfo.com/compare.html

pi*cc18

Hi there,

I´m very happy with the pi*cc from hi*tech and want to upgrade to the
pic18f family.

How is the pi*cc18 working with the new MPLAB6.1 version , is the
error messaging still a problem or already fixed?
