scharmh, IAR do provide the compilers around but the problem is the price.... quality has its price... so i recommend using the other compilers because of the price
Mikroelektronica gives you a choice of programming languages. BASIC, PASCAL and C. BASIC is the one I use. It has a fresh looking IDE which is simple to use
It is best for beginner as it has a huge and an ever increasing library.
After the recent release, the product has stabilised.
Also important to note is that the development team has fantastic Tutor boards.
Compiler for dsPIC in PASCAL is already out and the one in BASIC is under development.
PRICE is Fantastic.
In short, there is no bottleneck with this company and their products.
HI-TECH PICC if you want portable code, closely to hardware. (High price, interface is not good)
CCS if you want C-compiler at low price but it is look like MACRO programming
CCX or ... if you want the others.
