snr and sqnr

The difference is the noise to which they are referred to:

SNR (signal to noise ratio) considers any noise (e.g. thermal noise)

SQNR (signal to QUANTIZATION noise ratio) considers specifically quantization noise (usually arising fron analog to digital conversion).
