If You want to have monotonic converter without missing codes DNL should be between -0.5 and 0.5. For ENOB>N-0.5 (N - number of bits) INL also should be below 0.5 LSB. Every information which You need is in a IEEE 1241 standard.

Good. Thanks!
In what case is a monotonic converter needed and in what case is a monotonic converter needed?

Hi,

Most of the application needs the the DAC to monotonic. But in specific all the feedback systems needs the feedback element to be monotonic.

Do you mean that DAC/ADC need to be monotonic when they are used as a feedback element in a feedback system? Can you give me some example application? Thanks.
