Genesys is very user friendly, fast and easy to use, have good support see forum on www.eagleware.com .Can simulate very high frequency, above 35Ghz linear and nonlinear models.See this topic about Eda benchmark (Genesys, MWO and other softwares ) realised on 35Ghz Ring Mixer(nonliner simulation) Genesys is better than MWO :

@ds is designed by and for a senior microwave engineer, it have a engineering thought and not a student's, even it is not so cute.

If you are interested in RF system or circuit design ADS is a good choice. However, if you are involved in RFIC design, Cadence SPW/Spectro Rf is better.

Aplac use spice to simulate.I think @DS is the most powerful tool.

My personal preferences (in order):
1-ADS (hard, but very flexibale, and can do a lot more compared to tohers).
2-MWO (easy, friendly, but also not flexible, xpecially if you wanna write spedial script algorithms..etc, you need to know VBA, COM..etc)
3- Genesys (I did not use it alot, but looks soild and easy).

I've tried A/P/L/A/C but do not like the interface. It reminds me of old Berkeley spice file I/O. I haven't used the EM simulator in G/e/n/e/s/y/s but have tried the one in M/W/O and like it a lot. Its easy to use and cross checking the results in H/F/S/S shows very good coorelation. This was for microstrip and stripline structures.

How about the Ansoft Serenade?

The nice thing about S/E/R/E/N/A/D/E is that the download-able 'student' version is free. It can handle most problems even though the student version is limited in circuit size. It probably a little bit harder to use than M/W/O but not quite as hard as @DS.

Serenade is very user friendly, it is a pitty that it does not inlcude the real time tuner like microwave office. The student version is excellent as it allows you to simulate most circuits for free. ADS might be the so called rolls royce of simulation packages it is not very user friendly and takes up an aweful amount of memory.

Genesys is not quite as powerful as Serenade or MWO but probably offers the user good value for money.

I fell M/W/O is the much better of the lot. Given a little more time to fix the bugs, I believe it's gonna overtake the RFCAD muscles like @/D/S.

I read through the numerous one-line posts, and it seems the original question was on whether someone prefered MWO or Eagleware. My recommendation would be to spend a couple days on each and try out each of their tutorials. That's what I did. Eventually I chose ADS.
