Some parts of the middle east are quite costly as per living expenses .. Qatar & UAE come at the beginning of the list .. Kuwait is also expensive .. Jordan as well .. and definitely they are compared with Europe from this prospective ..

IMEC's salaries are a bit lower, compared to companies in Belgium. They also don't provide cars for employees (except for top management ). But the work environment is very challenging, the people are so friendly and helpful, and the diversity in the nationalities of employees and researchers gives a special welcoming atmosphere that isn't always found elsewhere

I don't think this is correct. The H1 quotas directly goes for those who are already inside USA. I guess this might change if the democrats replace the republicans in the administration. I do remember the days of Clinton. At that time, everybody used to easily get a good job in USA without a need to worry about VISA quotas.

The system here in europe is socialist, which means, wealth is normalized, which means.... Dont even think about it, UNLESS : Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Monaco,
Ireland (Not very positive about ireland, but its good). NEVER come for engineering
to France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, UK. The tax here is 50%, and the
income is half of USA, CANAD, Switzerland, Australia.... and so on.

Take my advice, I have experience

These countries are rich, Income above 90,000 CHF (Swiss Franc, nearly dollar in value). Taxation can be under 10% (Very high income can go as high as 25%).
Generally cheaper to live than other places in europe, and very stable countries,
very high standards of living.

I would second salma on that. Switz is damn expensive place. Depends a bit on canton
regarding taxes etc ...but hell you have to pay extra even for the garbage that you throw out!

I know that Swiss is known being a costly country .. but anyhow .. this depends on the equation .. if people are happily living in good aparts. .. driving fancy cars .. and saving some money .. then it's not expensive to them .. but expensive to non-residents ..

So, what is the percentage of residential rent to the income ? .. this is one of the figures that give a good sign to the standard of living ..

Usually, in the US you may end up paying one-third of ur salary for rent ..
