Quantization Noise/Error in an arbitrary system - What new can be done?

120 dB Dynamic Range is pretty common with Harmonics down 100 dB.

Hi,

I agree.
But is the "limit" caused by quantisation noise
or by other noise?

Indeed this is why I don´t "like" those 24 bit delta-sigma ADCs. I see the "24bits" more as a marketing value... because they barely give full 16 bit performance.
(for sure this depends on the exact ADC type).

Yes it's harmonic noise. So you can get 16.6 bit SNR with 6 to 7 bits for extra dynamic range. What's not to like?
