try this, if you have access to a vector graphics editing program
i.e. Illustrator, Inkscape. That's how I modified PiCS.

the original is on top, mine is at the bottom.

Hi,
I have assembled potyo's design ICD2. It is fain, Thanks. But is problem with Vdd controll for ISP. Pin 1RA4 from 16F877 is open drain, but in design is't pullup resistor. Is minimal possibly complement pullup resistor to 1RA4, else switch Q1/Vdd is't goes to regular off state and ISP circuit is powered sometimes, when it has by off.

Hi all
I have a question: my ICD Clone works very well as a programmer (thnkx, Potyo :D).
In debugger mode, if single-stepping or if breaking, usually it goes well.
But if I tell it to "run" and later break, the connection will always be lost.
Is this to be expected, or can it be improved?
Any ideias?

schematic or pcb

Does someone have the connection diagram of PICS (rev C) in Eagle from you? Could one make that public???

Thx

Hi all,

Where can I find Potyo's design. There are a lot of schematics in this thread an I have some difficulties to obtain the latest and correct design.

Thank you in advance to help me out.

Hi Potyo i think that your designe is the best because it is wary close to oriuginal and support all PICs (16f,18f,24, 33). Am I correct?

I read complete tread and now i will start my ICD2. So is the latest update of your designe on

http://www.icd2clone.com/wiki/Main_Page

I think that there will be no problems with this.

Great work!!!!!

@blueroomelectronics : Have you completed the Inchworm+.. does it have buffers to handle all PICs ?

The Inchworm+ and Inchworm are both non buffered and only handle 5V projects. The + can be mated with the Unicorn 18F4550 kit to provide the USB upgrade but still only 5V.
Some of the Potyo ICD2s appear to have the I/O buffers and some do not.
I designed my Inchworm to be inexpensive, easy to build, troubleshoot and repair. Only 2 ICs plus a LM7805 keep it real simple.

And yes the Inchworm+ and the Unicorn have been selling for about 3 weeks now.

Wait till you see the next kit... Mongoose July 2007

@blueroomelectronics : Is the the layouts of the Inchworm+ you sell or you give out layouts to interested parties too..

If you feel like, we will have a nice chat over email again.

Sure emailing me is fine.

I give out everything on my kits except the layout files (they're all double sided anyway) and the sketchup .skp libraries.

Hi, my ICD2 worked during some weeks, but now I have this error:

CDWarn0021: No Vdd voltage detected at Target. Continue with operation?
...Program Memory
ICD0161: Verify failed (MemType = Program, Address = 0x0, Expected Val = 0x3000, Val Read = 0x3FFF)
ICD0275: Programming failed.
MPLAB ICD 2 Ready

How can I solve it?

Lots of thanks!

Hello,

I built the ICD2 clone from PICs and wrote the bootloaders with JDM/ICprog. When connected to the PC, the USB LED was OFF and of course the OS didn't "see" the clone.
Then I tried the bootloaders from Zedman and it worked fine, but only with MPLAB version 7.20 and lower. For MPLAB 7.31 and higher, if I tried to download operating system, MPLAB was "hanging" and the BUSY LED was OFF which means no data is transfered.
After few days I discovered that when writing the bootloader into the 4550, the ICprog was leaving empty the addresses higher than 1000h :!:
Did anyone else noticed this problem with ICprog :?:
The solution was to use another sw to program the bootloader (WinPic800) and now everything is working fine.
Anyway, congratulations to all the guys involved in the project. Nice job !

hello friends of the forum, I am arming icd2 PiCs. version. but I have a doubt about the coil l2 wanted to know that type of coil I can use, is possible to be utlizar those of type hits, those of nucleo of ferrite it with himself of that do not valor..disculpen but my ingles is bad

Yes you can use the inductor as on the image you have provided. Any other inductor type will do it does not mather.

I think, the problem is with JDM, not with IC-Prog.

I'm not sure that i understand you, but if you have seen a schematic with my name and without buffers, it's not my desing.

Hi potyo,

I don't think it's the JDM programmer because I used the same JDM with WinPic800 software and it worked -all adresses were programmed.
The strange thing is that ICprog said that "verification was succesful", so I didn't suspect anything.
Did you use ICProg/JDM for 4550?

No, i've used Oshon's hardware (same as Tait), with oshon's and and sprut's program.
But i've hear about similar problems with JDM.
