I don't think it is used in embedded. Perl is an interpreted scripting language mostly used for text file manipulation in web pages.
You would need an interpreter in your code which would take up a lot of code space.
I think it is used to write scripts for testing of embedded systems.

Perl in Embedded

Embedded system is getting expanded in all directions.. Many automations, security systems etc are developed where each node is connected to a main server and any they authorize can access it.. so it needs a webpage..!! i think for this Perl is used..
