helical antenna design

HI

[align=justify:bc8cce13fa]Can somebody tell me Is helical antenna is suitable to design at a frequency range between 8-9 GHz. I am using 4nec2 for the design of antennas but how can i design a helical antenna on this software, there are no manuals or tutorials associated with this software. Can u also please tell me a link from where i can get this tutorial or manual. [/align:bc8cce13fa]

helix antenna design

Try to use any nec manual and learn on 4nec2 examples. Helical structure can builded manual;y but it's very hard. The best way is to use complex structure bulider(he is in 4nec2/exe folder and named with build.exe). Patch, Plane, Box, Cylinder and Parabola can be modeled with this program.

On 8-9Ghz helical antenna is very small and very hard to precise realization. Don't forget impedance transformer for matching to 50 ohm.

helical antenna

I advise you try to solve it in CST,HFSS,FDTD!!!

helical antenna construction

Hi ping-pong,
I thing that do your problem.I attached a file who easy calculated Helical antennas. If you wont more precise calculation you must be used HFSS and CST,etc.

hellical antenna

hi,
i don't think that the helical antenna is a good choise for 9 Gig.
It depends on the application, but you could look at....
for example a "coffe can" antenna which is also simple to build. You can simulate it with 4NEC2.
OR, you could think at the horn.

It is up to you.
Regards

4nec2 helical

I saw a article in microwave journal. They did a Helical Antenna by using LTCC for 900 and 1800 MHz. I dont know that using the same technique, it can be done for 8 GHz or not

helical antenna 433mhz

Helical antennas are very wide band. The only problem is that their beam pattern varies over the frequency range and can split into major lobes and even go perpendicular to the helix axis at some frequencies.

design of helical antenna

If you want design Helical antenna you can assisted with matlab 7,
Also I attach calc that was helpful for me

But for best results you need matlab!!!

helical antenna tutorial

Hi guys, can anyone send me information on Helical Array design?

Thanks

what diffrenice between patch antenna and helix antenna?

4nec2 patches

hi, I'm looking for a vendor that would supply a helix antenna with <1dB axial ratio, and a frequency band of 800-1000 MHz. If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

anyone help with a 433MHz helical antenna design?

Thanks a lot!

The geometries are different. Helix antenna has wideband characteristics, otherwise patch antenna hasnt.

Pls refer to Antenna textbook, such as Krauss or Balanis. Helical antennas design are described there....
:)

Kraus or CST!!!

433 mhz helix antenna

You can fabricate helicies that operate into Ku band relatively easily. 9 GHz should present no problem but if you have not worked there before get some help with connector and transmission line selections.

Antennas, Johm Kraus has an extensive section on this type af antenna (and many others as well). I saw him recommended above.

to design helical antenna

Use Kraus's book, and CST Microwave studio. Not knowing anything about helicals, I had one designed, built in CST, and simulated in a single day. CST is amazingly simple to use. Ive tried WIPL-D, HFSS, and COMSOL. CST ftw. Also the spacing between the reflector plate and the begining of the first turn of the helix needs to be (.12*wavelength). This formula took me a while to find, and gave me the best results.
