Hello

I have this hard disk board, where the motor does not start because the corresponding voltage does not reach. I have checked the continuity and I do not find anything strange, I do not know where to continue. The issue is that it is a hard disk with information about my father and I think there are family photos or videos.

I see that it should have -3.04v in the upper 100FP and they are not there, it is 0v but I do not know where they should come from.
I compared with other board, but a few differences one is IDE other SATA type.

Thank you for any help

Do you read the usual volt levels at the incoming upper right connector? 12V, 5V, etc? The -3.04V figure sounds like it might be derived from one of the other values. If you can hook up all the jumper wires required, then you can read Ampere draw individually. You'll have to know what's normal and what's evidence of short circuits.

Diagnose by checking for invalid volt levels at that upper right connector. If they're normal then the fault might be in a converter that provides the -3.04 figure. Does a part of the board heat up alarmingly?

Do you have a power supply that can deliver -3.04V? Try it momentarily. Something could happen on the board and you must be alert to spot it. Example, the platters might start spinning.

As a last resort disconnect that orange flat cable, remove the drive, and install it in a working housing.

Where do you see? Measurement at other same type HDD, any existing documentation?
First of all, Thank you to All.

Other board , Very similar, but not equal.
I already have 3 types that I buy on eBay.
Try to find same board, but not same.
This board maybe 2006, it's label on the picture, but I try to find information without result.

This boards can't exchange because have mechanical adjustments differents for every disk. I read it, I don't remember place.

If adjustments change maybe disk will damage o try to read in different position and no future.

I attach picture with some voltage points maybe it can help.

If not pls tell me step to step.

Some like disconnect motor or check short condenser I check it many times.
Thanks

I see the the motor has 4 wires or two pairs for brushless bipolar operation. This means there must be a bipolar voltage generated from 12V to a some symmetrical lower voltage like +/- _ V handled by the Malasia ASIC /w code = 2113 (?). The active switch could be Q2 gated from the ASIC with two 100 (10uH) coils being the outputs to caps.

If my hunch is right that tells me either Q2 or the gated pulsed signal to Q2 is at fault. (PWM).
The Gate signal is on the left G D S with the tab also D=Drain

Swapping boards of different Revs of the same model might work and should not write until it is safe to do so in the correct position and sector under OS/user control. The boards will seek home first after spinning up and loading heads.

Hi Tony
Excuse me, I don't understand where this is on the G D S, you mean the left tab of the Q2?
Maybe the 0A30502 needs some signal to activate left Q2?
I haven't found any information about the 0A30502 I don't know.
Maybe I'll look at changing the 0A30502!!!, but I have doubts, because there is something wrong with another component.
I don't know, I'm in a sea of doubts. But I have to do something, as they say here, without haste but without pause.
Regarding changing boards, I'm not entirely sure this will work, the heads can go beyond their travel limit and it never comes back (click, click, click) unless you open the disc.
I can tell you that swap SATA board disk, with my IDE (to repear), and come back original situation , de SATA disk can't find maybe home position..is clicking noise continuously
Thank you

Hi
I found and buy similar with same PCB serial working one.

I exchange PCB but not spin motor like dead. Don't move.

Refer to working disk, In the four points of motor have 6v positive.(At left of picture).

Pls, how can I check motor or inner connectors to the heads...

Maybe motor is damage?

Thank you
