Beginner - Layout techniques

I have read baker. But i need a book fully focussed on analog layout. As i am new to this forum, i dont have points to download all of these. Can you people suggest one?

you'd better to read
the book related to High speed PCB design and EMC compliant issue.

and read the Mentor's Hyperlynx, Cadence Allegro spectraquest SI, Ansoft SiWAVE manual.

if the board you want to design is working in RF frequency range...
thin textbook about transmission line theory may help you.

The issue on Good Analog PCB design is not much different from High speed Digital.

- power distribution/decoupling/bypassing
- trace impedance (single, differential)
- clock distribution
- ground plane / sectioning
- via layout/size
- tapering / teardrop
- balancing / shielding
- heat
- crosstalk
etc.

1. The Art of Analog Layout by Alan Hastings
2. IC Mask Design: Essential Layout Techniques by Christopher Saint, Judy Saint
3. CMOS IC Layout : Concepts, Methodologies, and Tools by Dan Clein

These are the best choices if you want to learn layout!!

i recommend this book, though i already been some days for layout and then bought this, i feel if i read it at the begining, i will understand more about layout " IC mask design" even for non technical ppl can read it easily

i am also a beginner in layouts .cadence (virtuoso) is a good tool to learn layouts .Anotherone is Laker tool

Learning layout is about grasping the basics and gaining experiance. I have been a layout Engineer for over 8 years now and still loving it!. I use virtuoso and XL , assura , encounter.voltage storm,Pcells, layout flows. I specialise in analog layout in particular RF and we start layout from module design through to floorplanning, pnr verifiction and tapeout. If anyone gets stuck I'm sure I can help out or at least ask a fellow layouter. I would say one of the most important things is to plan and to plan well. It saves alot of time in the long run if you fully understand the task ahead and how long it will take.

I think the most important thing for a beginner is to join a project, in that you can study the basic concepts and the layout flow from the senior fellow in project. You can not improve your skills just by reading books. Layout is a job related closely to practice.

I want to learn layout, these issues are very useful.

But in deep submicron technologies we need to take care of dfm rules also i.e., design for manufacturing rules in order to reduce the chances for chip failure.
Overall we need to clean DRC,LVS,DRCA,DFM and some more checks if required.
