(Arduino) What sensor to detect electrical pulses?

If I understand correctly, basically I should start with a low number of turns, and if does not work gradually increase until you get a correct measurement.
What could I use to play the part of the coil insulation?

However, soon as I can do you have pictures of the connections I made​​.

Yes, start by a low number of turns for the pick-up coil, connect this to small toroidal transformer and use a good connection for the car chassis…
 

Hi,

I am wondering if were able to finish the sensor? I need to do the same thing and am wondering if the addition of the low number turn transformer with good ground solved the problem.
