any reference on programable asynchronous counter?

I want to design a programable asynchronous counter(5-31), is there any reference on this area? I have searched by google,however there is few materials about it.

its very simple even if it is up/down too.u only need to initialize ur counter to any specified no and rest of ckt is same for any asynchronous counter n another additional thing is to reset it on specified integer.u can find them in book
