analog signal level shifting

hello all,

i have an input signal (,1 - 1 Hz ) with the voltage range of 1,65 - 3,3 V.

i would like to shift the level of this signal to the lower rail (to a range of 0 to 1,65V)

any ideas

You can use up clamper to raise the -3.3V to be 0V, after this step you will have the 1.65V became 1.65+3.3=4.95V, then, you can use an amplifier with gain=1.65/4.95, you can make it simply a potential divider, but I prefer to make it using OpAmp to have good isolation between stages if needed..

You can use a potential divider with Vo/Vin = 0.5

This attenuator or divider is good at low frequencies.

Try source follower.

my input voltage range is between +1.65V and +3.3V.....

As I told you before, the concept is the same,

But I think you didin't understand it well,

Anyway, i will try to simplify it more than above..

You will do it in two steps:

1) You will shift all range down to get the 1.65V now 0V, i.e. you will use down clamper (sometimes called voltage level shifter, tell me if you don't know it) to make this..

after this step: you have a new range from: 0 to 3.3-1.65=1.65V (what you need)

2) [You don't need to make this step for your current case], assume that the upper limit wasn't 1.65V but another value (say 2V), then, to do, after first step, you will use an amplifier to expand the range..

actually i didn't understand your point and i don't this level shifting circuit.

but just to be on the safe side i want to make my self even clearer......i want to shift the 1.65V to 0V and the 3.3V to 1.65V.

if u can provide a reference that would be really appreciated

For the reference, any electronics basics book is appreciated,
Electronic Devices and Circuit Theory, by: Robert Boylestad, and Louis Nashelsky is a good starting book..

If you already have that book, you will find good explaination for clampers in chapter 2, read it carefully...
