The microburn program talks to a custom programmed PIC on the board so I doubt it would be compatible with any other software. Even the different versions of microburn program need different PIC code on the board itself.
The Chinese clone I have is made by Shure electronics, it looks different to the Microchip version but the circuit inside it is identical and it uses the same software drivers. Microchip released the schematic, firmware and PC software on their web site and this is exactly what the clone uses. It works perfectly and I have a real PicKit and the clone on the same PC working at the same time.
