analog to digital convertor

hello!!
every one,

I need to convert analog input voltage into corresponding digital value.
Can any one tell me which ic or method i have to use?
I cant use micro controller, as it is not the requirement of application.

ADC converters usually use some kind of digital signal to select the option you want, control convertion etc, without an mcu it will difficult to control the ADC.
Maybe something like

It depends on what kind of resolution you are looking at.
A comparator is a 1-bit ADC.

how about using external ADC IC? such as ADC8080. you can connect LEDs at the ADC outputs to monitor the 8-bit analogue to digital conversion.
