How to prtotect electronics from ESD?

Hi , i 'm trying to convert an analog signal to digital (with an AD7703 and 8051) , this analog signal is coming from a welding generator with a capacitive discharge sparking system . If you can help me to protect electronics from electrical parasits.

Read Razavi's paper on ESD protection, I think it is Razavi and Galal
 

Thanks for your help at all! next trials are separate A/D conversion from analog stages.
