Hi All,
I have a doubt that is xbee can be used as a replacement of RFID reader?

Zigbee Transceiver will do the following:
(1) Be used for passive or active RFID. Obviously the transceiver power output would be decreased to prevent picking up RFID cards that are away from the door.

Is it possible?

Hello!

I'm not sure about what you want to do, but in your (1), you are talking
about picking up RFID devices, so is it a kind of wireless RFID reader that
actually reads RFID tags, and sends the results somewhere to a server?

Dora.

I heard that RFID standard is possible with Zigbee, by adjusting the output transmission power and changing the antenna power. Right now it is possible to do Active RFID with a Zigbee chip, but technically if you reduce transmission power you can therefore use Passive RFID as well so RFID card detection is only 3 to 5 inches from the antenna.

I could not understand what above paragraph is saying. Its from my employer.

Here i am not referring to read the RFID card using a RFID reader and send the read data though Zigbee.
What i am asking is by combining zigbee and RFID reader or tuning Zigbee, how to detect long distance RFID cards and short range cards?

By controlling antenna power or some other method?
