Zero Crossing Detector

Hello

I have got a Zero Crossing Detector and would like to connect it to a Counter, Driver and LED Display. Any suggestions on how this could work and any tips or pointers on building any of the above circuit will be most appreciated.
Thanks

Zero Crossing Detector

Use the detector output as a clock, then connect to counter's clock input to count the no. of zero crossing.

Re: Zero Crossing Detector

Hi,
If you want to know how the Zero Cross Detector work ( as I understand from your question ) - it usually is a type of voltage comparator with predefined threshold ( near zero ) and slight positive feedback forming hysteresys ( Shmidt trigger )

Re: Zero Crossing Detector

Does it mean counting 50 or 60 Hz?
Building couple with the old MC14553 and MC14543 chips (3 digits) or some electronics hobby counter kit should work fine. If your want to display as frequency counter says XX.X Hz pulse gate and latch signal of every 5 secs. should be used.

Re: Zero Crossing Detector

Have the counter with the same specifications if the clock is negative triggered better use a not gate before it
design a counter such that the modulus is such that the output is clearly identifiable by using the led at the out put
Better use TTL as it has less Propagation Delay
