Seeking solutions Zero Crossing Detector for 230V with minimum own consumption.
I need it to Triac dimmer to DMX512.
My idea
Optotriac switchimg synchronization 1x per 5000ms and optocupler for retransfer information ZCD

I'm interested in your opinion of this solution and possibly a better idea
 

Why should you do that? A DMX dimmer isn't particularly low power.

You can still use a lower opto coupler current if you worry about resistor power dissipation.
 

Why not make it so
Experience tells, DMX512 used five hours in a week.
In other words, 163 hours a week, the module is energized, but controlled the lights off.
If in ZCD use optocouple + resistor will be consuption about 500mW thit is about 4kWh/year . Modules will be 8pcs 32kWh/year
These are real savings.
 

I understand your efforts. Inter alia, optocouplers life is not infinite
Here is my idea.
Not verified, I submit for discussion
If ZCD_Enable is disble consuption is 0
If ZCD_Enable is enable consuption is under 100mW (~75mW) and error detection about 500us.
What do you say?

 

For clarification.
The detector detects only on the falling edge of the positive half-wave.


If you want even negative half-cycle D1 Muse replace graetz diode bridge, but consumption rises to double (about 120mW)
