I'm a bit confused about X Safety Caps and when/where I need to use them. In the attached image (from https://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/AND8132-D.PDF) they use an X2 caps at the input and then normal caps (E1 and E2) after the bridge. Is this approach correct? Why I do not need also E1/E2 as safety caps? If E1/E2 fail the result is very similar to a failure of the input cap. Is there any standard related to their use? Thanks!
