Would the single phase motor run slowly or won't run at all if its starting capacitor goes completely bad or capacitor became weak ?

Hi Danishdeshmuk,

There are many symptoms that will show faulty of motor capacitor :

- The motor will not start, but if you spin by hand, the motor will run properly.
- Motor may start but will always fall short of normal operating speed.
- Higher ammount of noise, higher amperage, and higher temperatures.

Also there is other possibilities maybe there is problem with wires in windings.

Best regards,
Peter

How to figure out that one ?

" - Motor may start but will always fall short of normal operating speed. "

How to find out whether normal is running below its normal operating speed ?

You can measure speed. If difference is drasticaly lower you can even visually see that.

You can always test and check capacitor. Simply do the test for capacitor or try with new capacitor.

Motor have declared normal operating speed. You can know from expirience with this motor, what is speed at what load.

Best regards,
Peter

I will suggest to do continuity test of both running and starting windings without capacitor even if motor is not starting to conform the claim that capacitor is faulty or not.

Good luck
