Hi,
We wish to terminate this ribbon cable into a 10 way (two rows of 5) female connector, of 2.54mm pitch. This will plug into the male 10 way which is on the PCB.
Please assist us in finding part numbers for this task?
Also, we seek the crimp tool for this.

We already have this, but no-one knows the part numbers of the connectors for it, so we can't re-do them....problem is its not connecting properly, so we want to start again and re-do it. It seems like the connector just squeezes over the ribbon cable and its luck-of-the-draw whether you get a good connection or not.

Farnell 2628362 ribbon cable

This page shows the same ribbon cable
...and references "Speedbloc" IDC connectors, but googling "speedbloc" shows nothing....or leads to nothing

Not sure what the problem is Treez. IDC connectors don't need a crimp tool, all the connections are made simultaneously when you assemble the plug shell. If you are making small quantities just make sure the cable is at 90 degrees to the plug (and the right way up!) and squeeze it between the jaws of a plain vice until the back snaps into place.

Thanks, and with the following IDC connector, do you know how to work out which ribbon conductor ends up in which "place" concerning the ribbon cable in the top post......

IDC connector for ribbon cable (farnell 2215232)

...pin 1 doesnt seem to be marked in the above IDC connector. (10way, 2row)

i believe it numbers something like this....

1 3 5 7 9
2 4 6 8 10

...but dont know which pin is 1?

Hi,

...pin 1 doesnt seem to be marked in the above IDC connector. (10way, 2row)
The "pin 1" mark is the triangle on the housing. (identical to Harting marking)
(Also shown in the datasheet drawing)

... and the displacement contacts are staggered so adjacent wires in the ribbon go to alternate sides (rows) of the plug.
