crompton parkinson motor wiring

♦I have acquired an old Myford lathe (ca 1950) with a Crompton Parkinson AC Motor. Unfortunately in the transfer the markings on the wires have been lost, so....

The Motor has four wires, two red and two black, but not paired.

The control switch has six cables and four positions. On Forward, Off, On Reverse, Off.

I can identify the two power connections ( L & N) on the switch, but how do I ensure that the motor cables are correctly paired and connected to the relevant forward and reverse connectors on the switch?
