Hello all, recently I've been looking for wireless transceiver modules to interface with an MCU (atmel UC3C series) for sending telemetry at a high data rate (like 5Mbaud or more) at short distance (maybe 20m max). Previously I had used a nRF24L01 module and was able to get about ~1Mbaud throughput. Now I've looked at many 802.11 wifi modules (Xbee wifi) which advertise air baud rates of 54Mbaud or more, but all of them seem to have limits on actual throughput even less than 1Mbaud, or they don't say anything about actual throughput. Does anyone know of some modules with higher effective throughput that also has a MCU-compatible interface (SPI, USART, even ethernet)?
I know that even accounting for realistic overhead and error rates, getting 5Mbps out of a 54Mbps link is perfectly doable, but why don't I see any modules that claim they can?
