why LTI system is important in signal processing?

why LTI system is important in signal processing although most of the natural systems r nonlinear in nature.
 

Most of the systems that we study we linearize them about an operating point. This makes the problem easier to study and get a general idea of. So we need to have a good knowledge of LTI systems.
In most cases of interest this approximation is good enough.
