Why does HV9860 LED driver have to use DCM?

On page 1 of the HV9860 datasheet it says that the HV9860 is for DCM .

Why is it only for DCM?
Surely it can be used with CCM also? (especially if the duty cycle was <0.5 as then no slope compensation is needed)

It's possible the IC needs to see coil current go to zero during each cycle. Particularly in flyback operation. A flyback has no current in the primary during switch-Off.

If it were in CCM, then coil current would never go to zero.
