Why do red LED lights use half as much electricity than any other color?

the sound organ from the previous post is working out great. The 3 strands of LED lights are up and working. thanks all for all the quick input.

Research into LED lights has prompted this question, which may or may not be appropriate here, but i bet someone knows the answer ...

Why do red LED lights use half as much electricity (amps per hour) than any other color light?

Red photons have less energy. The frequency is lower. Remember that E=hf where h is Planck's constant and f is cyclic frequency. It may also be part of the generating process.
