Error question

Dear all,
I have a qustion. Why A constatn offset to all unary sources does not affect the linearity, and thus the quadratic error is cancelled? Thanks.
If I have eight point: (-6,6)(3,2)(-2,-7)(7,-3)(and(-2,6)(3,-3)(7,2)(-6,-1).
x:-6,3,-2,7
Y:6,2,-7,-3
Can this cancel the quadratic error?
Thanks.
