Why build in heater for LCD?

Hi i am searching of a LCD display for a handheld equipment. The LCD from newhaven display looks good (NHD-C12864A1Z-FS(RGB)-FBW-HT1) because of the RGB backlight. (https://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?vendor=0&keywords=NHD-C12864A1Z-FS(RGB)-FBW-HT1)

The datasheet describes it has a build in 12V heater. I don't know what is build in heater & why it is required for a LCD display. Can anybody describe me the use & requirement of LCD heater!!!

LCDs do not work well at low temperatures. If you want one to work at -40C for example then you can use a heater.

LCD lose speed on low temp. You can see effect on almost any mobile phone at low temp (<5C).

Thanks for the reply. I search lot of LCD's & mostly working with -20C to 70C. This one working with -40C. Non of other LCD having the build in heater function.

If i am not operating the LCD in low temperature, can i neglect the heater option?

I hope for the above LCD it has a build in temperature sensor to automatically turn ON the heater. Am i right?

If you don't need the heater you can either buy it without or ignore the heater pins. The don't include any control - just the heater - so you need your own controller. They have a suggested circuit in the datasheet but you may want to use something more sophisticated using your microcontroller. Bear in mind the heaters take 1A so they are quite power hungry.
