[Astro] Why core Down?

Hi,

These days, when I ran Astro for my design, I found Astro become more unstable. I don't know what's reason. Do you think my design become too big to let Astro core down?

My OS is Linux 7.2 (2.4.7-10),
Memory 1G

for big Design U can use Cadence IC5, but i think Astro no problems with a big design

How big is your design?
What's the size?

My gate count is about 60K ~ 100K. I try it from 100K into 60K! Thanks!

Hi, which version of Astro are you using? (The latest version now should be 2003.06?)

From my experience, Linux 7.2 is not a very stable version. Switch to either 7.1 o r 7.3 if possible.

Astro is a new tools from Synopsys. It was written in Sun and port to Linux/HP, thus, it might not work very stable under linux enviroment. There are still a lot of bugs in Astro. Synopsys do patch the bugs from time to time, so, just keep yourself update with the latest version of Astro.

Hope this help.
