why and what thing make coaxial cable able to take more channel ascompare to shielded pair and twisted shielded pair cable .:?:

Re: coaxial cable

There are two factors.

Unshielded cables have more radiation and pickup of external signals.

Coaxial has less attenuation for a given outer diameter. This is partly because of the large surface area of the outer conductor.

Re: coaxial cable

large surgace area and small diameter make coaxial cable as a best choice :?:

Re: coaxial cable

Coaxial cable has a good shielding for it's outer and inner conductor, this setup reduces a lot of noise and can be operated @ higher frequencies than shielded and twisted pair!!!

Re: coaxial cable

a lot of information related to your doubt are available in data communication and networking by forouzan.

Re: coaxial cable

hi
co axial cables has less attenuation than 2pair sheilded cables
and the capacitor between the core and the outer sheild is smaller than the 2pair cables that mean it may handle higher frequancy .
the cat 6 twisted pair cables are higher in performance for network applications as the twists in the pairs make each wire in the pair face the same amount of the interference and noise and then cancel each other
