Both topics are of major interest because we're always looking for better ways to convert and distribute electrical power.
I get the sense that there is already an established drive to develop the more complex configurations of SMPS (the ones which are isolated from mains AC, and smoother running). And to make them faster, smaller, cheaper, cooler, etc.
Supercapacitors look as though they could have a lot of possibilities. Yet they are expensive when you need the power that would lead to the most useful applications for them. If you could make them cheaper then there might be a greater public market for supercapacitors.
