cadence 5141 solaris

hi all,
does anyone try some os other than RH for IC5?
since RH,especially fedora core 3 takes too much disk space(more than 3G)
I want to install ic5 under other linux OS.
Can debian work? or SuSE or mandrake or any other choice?

thank you

5033---rh7.3
5144---rh9.0

somebody said thar 5144 can be easily installed on redhat9.0

solaris 9, solaris8, solaris10 is the good sellect.

i think redhat 8.0 is a good choice for all users ,who wish to have compatibility with eda tools and also with new hardware.although cadence ic 5.0141 can be installed on fedora core 2 ,u may not be able to run some other tools like magma or synopsys etc.by the way i have tested cadence ic on rh 8.0 and fedora core 2.it runs on both platforms without any problems.but iam able to run wavescan only in rh 8.0 and was not able to do the same in fedora core 2.

Debian can work well as you wish. I'm using it. If you are already familiar with Debian, just go for it. I also tested on SuSE 9.2 and Mandrake 10, they both worked well but I think Debian is lot more simple.

any idea about RHEL3 . will it support the EDA tools

hello ,suse 9.2 does not support magma .and since its kernel version is different u may also have problems when u run other tools lik cadence ic.it is better to go in for an operating system which is officially supported by the tool vendor.

I have installed 5.141USR1A on a machine RedHat EL3 WS and it works fine. But it should be put the Cadence environment variables into .bash, NOT in bash_profile..

For 5.033 , oficially is said RH 7.2 , RH73

For 5.141 , oficially is said RH7.2 ,RH7.3 and RHEL2.1,3.0
