Hello, everyone

I have a special EDA tools server and install all tools on it, then set it as NFS server and share the installation directory. At the same time I have a special powerful server as data server, which share a large partition(/etc/auto.home) and make as all users $HOME path. When I login from third machine($HOME on data server), and use those tools, which machine am I using more? that is, which machine should be more powerful to meet my necessary?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Harryzhu

Re: which machine should be more powerful according to my ne

The data server should have be more stable and powerful network.
Since you are uisng third machine and using NTFS to mount the dataserver, when you run the EDA tool, it is mainly depned on the performance of third machine.

I think the application runs in the machine that fork the application. So, the machine that you start you application should be the most powerful ones. When you start the application at the datas server through the telnet , the application is running in the datas server in fact.

On which machine you run the tools?

I think the key is where you memory and virtual memory located. they are often used for swap data, and most limited the speed.
