As a part of the project, I wish to work at my home. Please suggest some layout+schematic+simulation tool which can be easily procured as an evaluation copy/free.

My project (part of a course) involves making an basic DAC (not thought of any specs as of now.. )

Thanks in advance.
jeff

you can install the linux system. then you can use the cadence. it's a good layout+schematic+simulation tool.

someone know where i may get cadence tool to work at home?

ICED layout tool is now open source. It has LVS & DRC but does not have connectivity editing. It requirs a little setup for processes but it is a fast hand editor. LVS uses a spice netlist usually with some slight modification. The DRC & LVS rule files are easy to write with a little practice.

I used ICED for our bipolar processes and Orcad/Pscpice were used for schematic entry and simulation.

It can be downloaded from www.iceditors.com.

Is there a student version or limited feature free version of Cadence.

Magic is also a good layout tool !

EDWinXP can do layout and simulation

Electric VLSI design system tool can be used for layout entry, DRC, LVS and net list extraction. LT-SPICE tool from Linear Technology Corporation will be used for simulations.

all these tools are freeware.

I guess cadence will not give their tools for free, though they have special package licensing agreement for universities/students for a reasonable price. Just search the net and you can find more info.
