hi all,
We are designing a board in which we required different clocks like 100MHz,125MHz, 25MHz, 19.2, 12, & 24 MHz etc. I need to know, which solution is better among the following....
1) Using separate Xtal oscillators in a board or
2) Using a chip, which can generate all above required clock frequencies.
What are the advantages and disadvantages in 1 & 2.
pls, answer this query....expecting from experts...
thanking you:idea:

It depends upon the environment where your board will be used.

In harsh conditions where EMI is high, I think you should try to reduce the number of crystal oscilators and instead use one or so IC that is EMI hardened to generate the clock.

If this is an application where parts are allowed to be replace, using a single IC is not likely to be cost effective later on otheriwse it will give smaller BOM.
