cadence icms vs icfb icds

Not any of them!
U mus run the shell scripts with the same name of the *.exe files e.g. icms for icms.exe.

icms is the environment for design entry and simulation.
icfb is for front to back design flow i.e. design entry, simulation, layout, extraction and verification.

BEST!

ncsu cadence parts

if you do not know which command you could use, you can run the icfb.

cadence icms icfb icde icds

Hi,

look in the document ...install_path/doc/dfIIconfig.pdf at page 11. there is an overview about the several script you can execute and the tools you can use if you start a certain script.
there are very many cadence documents and it is hard to get an overview, but if you have some keydocuments it can help a lot. so i took me time to open each cadence document and made me a short notice of the content and sorted all documents according the importance to me.

which platform do you use with .exe? windows?
normally, for logic design, use 'icds'; for layout edit, use 'icfb'. i haven't try others.

hi,

to z81203: as i know there is no cadence design framework for windows. i dont know why they have the extention exe. any idea?

file exetensions in Unix/linux dont have special significance !

type :

$ file `which icfb.exe`
<cds_path>/icfb.exe: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped

Ok i got the idea, the only problem now is that the NCSU has replaced the default parts browser and I cant add components in my designs as the browser only goes down one level (library) where as the orginal goes down 3 levels (library/component type/component). Can I disable the NCSU brower??

hi ,
You can comment out the relavant lines in cds.lib file in your
home directory:

INCLUDE /cds/share/cdssetup/cds.lib
INCLUDE /cds/local/cdssetup/cds.lib
DEFINE sample /cds/tools/dfII/samples/cdslib/sample
#DEFINE basic /ncsu/cadence/local/lib/basic
DEFINE NCSU_TechLib_tsmc03 /ncsu/cadence/local/lib/NCSU_TechLib_tsmc03

this doesnt help me, it will not affect how the parts browser works.

Hi I dont think there is a 'ncsu browser'
Just hit the key i in the schematic entry window,
you get the parts browser : and it shows only one level.
