inverter (cmos buffer)

Hello All

Anyone know where can we find the delay time of a single cmos inverter(buffer) for technology ranging from 0.7um, 0.5um, 0.3um to 0.18um?
Kindly let me know.
Also if there is a way to calculate, please share with me about it. If some parameters for each technology are needed, please let me know how to we get the parameters for each technology(from model files)?

If it is from model files, many of them are shown in symbols and the exact name of the symbol are not know, any site that introduce each of the parameters in details?

Kindly help
Thank you

jason

Re: inverter (cmos buffer)

You have the several ways to get what you need:

Option 1.
If you are using Cadence Virtusuo (for example), you must be provided with a technology library from a foundry where you intend to fabricate your ICs based on their CMOS technology. This library will offer you the accurate circuit parameters of the MOS devices that are guarenteed within a specific tolerance from your foundry.

Option 2.
In some recommended textbooks, usually based on 0.25 micron such as ones used in Ken Martin, Philip Allen, Paul Gray etc, there are some tables of parameters which are referred in their books.

There is an explaination in Digital Integrated Circuits 2nd Ed. written by Jan Rabaey that demonstrates how delay (propagation delay) can be calculated. Read 5.4.2 Propagation Delay. Example 5.5 helps too.

Do the simulation with the typical model of MOSFETS.
