Hello all,

I am new in comptational electrodynamics word; I am starting a Phd in nonlineair optics and i have to know some important idea about FDTD and finit element,...
My question is : what are the limits of a software (like MEEP, Maxwell,...) that obligate us to write our own code in FDTD or finit element and not use a software?

I will appreciate ur help,
Thank u
