Hi guys,

I would like to make a question concerning baseband signal processing.
Namely, I am dealing with radio communication inside 434M ISM band. Used modulation is FSK, and symbol rate 19.2kbaud.
The architecture ofthe receiver is following:
USRP1 with tuned to center frequency of 433 MHz and sampling frequency of 500k, with the final result of 500k wide complex baseband signal, ... After some filtering comes quadrature demodulator and data slicer. Data slicer has at it's imput demodulated signal, and spits out digital pulses. The next I want to do is synchronizing to the preamble in order to be able to make bit decisions. The problem is I am not quite sure whether root raised cosine filter for signal shaping should come immediately after demodulation or after data slicer? If pulse shaping filter comes after data slicer, then what output should rrc filter have when I provide square wave signal with 19.2 / 2 Khz?

Many thanks
Nemanja

Pulse shaping should be implemented on transmitter side and not the receiver side if I not mistaken. The reason of using pulse shaping is to shape the transmitted pulse.
