LVPECL Driver Interface

Hi Guys,

Attached is the architecture of a LVPECL driver. The standard design of it is to have common mode of 2V at the emitter follower and the swing about 800mVpp single ended. My question here is, what will be the value of the resistor we have to design here at the emitter of the output transistor. Does it need to be 50ohm as to match the transmission line or can be any value to set the common mode dc voltage. Pls explain on this.

Regards,
suria3
