Hi,

I found an oscillator circuit and am trying to identify it's components. The transistor looks like a GaAs fet in a 83B package with cut-off legs. It's a bipolar however because I can measure the BE junction drop. It's top is round and white and has the markings 2i written on it in light blue print. Who recognizes this one?

Thanks a lot folks!

Hi radiohead,

Do you have a digital camera with a macro lens?

Ante

Since you are able to measure BE junction drop it means you have physically access to it.

If you have a curve tracer with safe levels of current/voltages you can measure load lines.

From there you can distiguish all you need. If you do not have access to a curve tracer then try a picture of it here so we can guess what might be.
