how to simulate in system level?
such as ac analysis and transient simulation of DC-DC convertor.
What I want to is not using transistor level but amplifier and transfer function level.
I think matlab will be good, but I do not know how to do transient simulation especially considering some non-ideal effect such as ESR, on-resistor.etc.

Re: What tools is suitable for system level simulation of DC

MATLAB includes subsystem SIMULINK for visual simulation.
I use SIMULINK for system level simulation of DC-DC and other projects.
Now last version of SIMULINK include SimPowerSystems Blockset with electrical elements: resistor, capacitor, inductor, electrical sources and similar. So part of system model may be electrical circuit.
I think that SIMULINK is good program for system simulation.

I also tried the evaluation version of PSIM.
I think it is a good tool except that it can not do AC analysis. If I need small signal AC analysis I have to use another tool such as matlab.

to gevy:
could you offer me more detail of your DC-DC simulation? I want to do two kind of analysis, one is large signal simulation(transient), another is small signal simulation to get phase-margin and gain margin.

I think you can also choose pspice to do that. You can just use the ABM(analog behavior module) devices to modeling the real components. Any difficulties pls let me know the details thus I can show you how to do that via email. My email account is skyman88@gmail.com.
