I have a Schneider Electric CT 25A 240V 4 Pole Contactor 15962 contactor with a 240v coil.

I want to control this from my nxp arm based micrcontroller. The load means it will be on for roughly 12 hours then off for 12 hours. It is for HID lighting with a digital/electronic ballast.

Could someone please tell me the best circuit given such a scenario.

many thanks.

You can either use a triac (with MOC3021 optotriac) or a small auxilary relays to control the contactor.

Are there any particular pros/cons for each solution ? I haven't been able to find any details about this contactors coil, how do I know what sort of triac/relay I should be looking at ?

Do I need to take precautions against inductive load ?
