Hi!
I just bought bunch of 14D471K and 10D681K Varistors, because these were sold under title "Piezoresistor Piezo Resistor Pressure Sensitive" on eBay.
I just hooked them up in the knock sensor configuration with 1M Ohm resistor, but I'm not able to get anywhere near as good resoults as with piezo buzzer.
This circuit:

I'm trying to make a punch-o-meter, and with piezo, I can detect a bang even on the same table, but these varistors don't seem to give any reliable signal even if I really press them.
Did I misinterpreted the title or do I use wrong circuit? I thought that these could be piezos, but only more durable because of the packaking.

These seem to be just regular MOVs. Where could I use these components, maybe some other use?

Thank you!

Varistors are usually used to suppress [mains] voltage transients, so you could use them to suppress transients on the primary side [of a transformer/smps]

How ebay claims MOV/ZOV like 14D471k is 470V pressure sensitive piezoresistor? Here is the link

I guess they screwed up... Did you inform them of the apparent mistake?

Nope, I didn't think that they could actually do so blatant mistake.

And it was not only that one store linked, multiple sellers use this exact title.

So you are sure that these cannot be used in any way to measure pressure? I need to send them a message, although it was my mistake to buy them by the title in the first place.

never ever heard of varistor capable of measuring pressure!

even the construction, if I remember/saw correctly belies it as there are leads on both sides
