Re: turbines in a jet engine

mehboob_iiui,
The turbines in the reare provide torque to spin the compressor turbines in front. The engine is started by a starter motor in a manner similar to that of an automobile engine. The starter motor is often used in a dual purpose manner to provide DC power to the aircraft.
